I can still remember the smell of our first shop, the new fabrics, the paint still drying on the walls, and the countless hours I spent rearranging the same few shelves, trying to make everything feel just right.

There was no team and no perfect plan. There were difficult months when I quietly wondered whether I could keep going. But then someone walked through the door, came back again and brought a friend.

Little by little, the shop became more than just mine.

My daughter Jane began helping at weekends, then during school holidays and eventually every day. Without either of us planning it, Amelie & Jane became her story too. We discussed fabrics around the dinner table, disagreed over colours and learned together what it means to care for a business that carries our names.

Throughout these 30 years, one thing has never changed. Every piece we choose must answer the same questions: Will it last? Will it make someone feel confident? Is it worth the money they worked hard to earn?

Some of our customers have been with us since the early years and now visit with their own daughters. Seeing two generations walk through our doors is something that still touches us deeply.
